I’ve been a part of the CreativeMornings community for almost a decade. Every month, members gather in 259 cities across 73 countries to breathe more creativity into their lives. And CreativeMornings' virtual FieldTrips extend those experiences to take place with attendees around the world throughout the month.
On September 22, I’ll be offering my very first CreativeMornings FieldTrip. I’m thrilled to have been selected and to give back to a community that has given me so much. Here’s all about my offering:
❤️ The Creative Perks of Motherhood
📅 September 22, 10:00—11:00AM Eastern
🎟️ FREE
Motherhood is often framed as a professional liability, personal sacrifice, or even an impossible choice for those living a creative life—but what if caregiving actually strengthens creativity? What if birth helps you bloom, not wilt?
I’ve done plenty of writing here about the challenges, but in this interactive workshop, we will explore how caregiving—and especially matrescence—can transform your life and creative practice. While hope is the outlook, this workshop will employ candor and humor, not rose-colored glasses.
Through artist examples, reflection prompts, and storytelling, we’ll uncover the surprising creative perks of choosing to mother.
Ultimately, you’ll be offered a lens to reframe caregiving not just as an interruption to creative life but as a profound transformation of creative practice—and an opportunity to help shape a more maternally welcoming world.
This experience is designed for anyone considering parenthood—especially those concerned about how mothering might rock their creative world and who want to keep rocking (with a baby) without becoming beige.
You’ll leave with:
vocabulary for understanding the changes brought on by birth and caregiving
fresh perspectives on the intersection of creativity and motherhood
deeper connection through shared storytelling and reflection
a detailed resource syllabus/toolkit for mother-artists
renewed hope around the importance of the maternal gaze in art and the world
